The purpose of this role is to work as part of cross-functional project teams taking concepts through to series production whist working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the products meet their requirements. You have the responsibility for defining the technical specification of products and components ensuring directives, standards and procedures are met to achieve product certification. In addition, you shall provide technical support of the product(s) to other departments within the organisation for any new product introductions or major modifications to existing products.
- Collaborate with Development and Product Reliability departments to define component functionality; including their performance requirements and standards to fulfil product specifications
- Completion of design activities that aids the completion of project milestones within the Product Lifecycle process
- Represent the design function during the ECR process and in cross-functional teams
- Provide technical assistance to other Bosch companies and departments to produce technically compatible appliances for national and international markets
- Assist in the creation of Installation and User Instructions for New Products and modifications.
- To support with continual improvement process and training of other department members
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the most cost-effective solutions are specified to meet the agreed cost targets and quality figures
- Mechanical design engineering background with appropriate academic qualifications
- Excellent working knowledge of 3D CAD software (ideally Siemens NX and TeamCenter)
- Ability to analyse FEA/simulation results and incorporate into technical specifications
- Good communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to explain complex topics to non-technical stakeholders and non-native speakers
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly methods
- Knowledge of central heating systems and their integration with the heating appliance advantageous
- Experience of using department tools such as, Enterprise Resource Planning tools (ideally SAP) advantageous
