Position Overview & Specifications
The is a full-time post and the successful candidate will be fully supported to undertake relevant studies, part time, to facilitate development in the role, where required.
The successful candidate will be able to provide all aspects of Occupational Health clinical practice, some independently and some with the training and supervision from our Occupational Health Advisors, where required. This will include consultation, advice, education, testing and immunisations in accordance with patient group directives and departmental protocols.
The role is Monday-Friday, predominately based at our Watford Hospital with occasional travel required to our Hemel and St Albans sites.
To carry out the daily clinics including workplace immunisation, preplacement screening, health surveillance and management referrals and occupational health triage.
Where required, you will receive relevant training and supervision to undertake your own caseload of management referrals for the purpose of sickness absence management through assessment and advice on an individual’s fitness to work, rehabilitation and phased return to work programmes. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate proven skills in working in line with evidence-based practice, communication, team working and compassion.

- To carry out daily clinics, working to a schedule and in accordance with local professional and DH guidelines.
- To assess individual risk for employees presenting with perceived stress and taking appropriate action.
- To maintain appropriate records in line with departmental protocols on record keeping.
- Undertaking own caseload of management referrals for the purpose of sickness absence management through assessment to advice with training and supervision, where required.
- To support the delivery of occupational immunisation programme.
- To provide health surveillance in accordance with current legislation with training and supervision.
- To assess any employee following a body fluid exposure, undertaking a risk assessment for blood borne viruses and taking appropriate action in accordance with the DH guidelines.
- To use a range of IT programmes as part of day-to-day duties.
- To build and maintain good professional relationships with the OH team and wider multidisciplinary team.
