Cyber Security Technologist - Higher Apprentice - RT18922

Salary: £20,971.60 (£10.90 per hour higher apprenticeship)

Walsall Council are seeking a motivated individual who is passionate about cyber security and wants to kick-start their career in this field. As an Apprentice Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities in computer systems and networks through research and practical exploration. You will analyse and evaluate security threats and hazards and use external sources of threat intelligence to gain a comprehensive view of cyber threats.

This post is full-time and will be for 37 hours per week, which includes time away from the office for training.

Entry Requirements

  • GCSE English and Mathematics Grade A-C/4 to 9 or equivalent
  • A Level within ICT, Computing or related, BTEC or equivalent within ICT (Extended Diploma 180 credits), Apprenticeship in similar subject (Level 3), Other International Baccalaureate in ICT (Level 3)

Training Provider: TDM (The Development Manager)

Typical Duration: 24 months + EPA

Apprenticeship Standard: Cyber Security Technologist - Level 4 - Cyber Security Engineer route

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
