Multi-skilled Tradesman / Multi-trade Operative / Carpenter

PAYE or Self-employed

Department - Building and Maintenance

Location - Peripatetic - nationwide

Reports to - Operations Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Due to an increased number of ongoing repair, refurbishment, and construction projects across the UK, we are looking to recruit at least two multi-traders who have sound all-round general building and maintenance experience gained within the construction industry.

The work will vary from week to week but generally involves:

• Carpentry
• Preparation and decoration
• Basic plumbing
• Replacing ceiling tiles
• Minor brickwork and render repairs
• General maintenance/repairs
• Snagging works
• Supporting specialist surveyors
• Groundworks
• Clearance works

EXPERIENCE
You will have proven experience in the industry, be able to turn your hand to most tasks and possess a good work ethic and positive attitude. Taking pride in your workmanship and applying a keen eye for detail are essential, as are strong communication skills and understanding the importance of outstanding customer service. We are looking for a self-motivated team player that can make sound judgements and effectively manage their time, prioritise workload and adopt a strategic thought process to solve on-site problems. The work is varied and will occasionally involve working alongside our shopfitting and electrical departments.

QUALIFICATIONS & CRITERIA

Trade certifications or proven time-served experience

• CSCS card holder
• SSSTS
• Asbestos awareness (or a willingness to complete the course)
• PASMA (or a willingness to complete the course)
• IPAF (or a willingness to complete the course)
• Knowledge of health and safety and safe working practices
• Full driving licence

WORKING HOURS

8:00am to 17:00 Monday-Friday or Overnight & Weekends depending on the location of work, 5/7 days per week.

Out of hours work may be required where work cannot be completed in a live trading environment.

REMUNERATION

Self-employed (£110-200/day) or PAYE basis (£12.95-£17.50/hr + overtime when working overnight / weekends)

You will need to have your own van and tools.

Sub-contractors will need a UTR and appropriate insurance cover.
