What we do

Vypr is a Private Equity/Venture Capital backed SaaS business providing a market-leading product intelligence platform. We are on an exciting journey to be known around the globe for providing reliable consumer data. Our predictive data validation platform enables manufacturers and retailers to understand what their customers want to see on shelves. This helps reduce the time and costs spent developing new products, which makes for better products, faster.

Product Design at Vypr

We are currently building Vypr’s first fully in-house product team. Our CPO started in autumn 2022 and has already built a great relationship with the other Execs and Board. Why does this matter? Because it means we are empowered to work autonomously, in whatever way we think will be help us best achieve our goals.

About the role

This is one of two permanent product design hires at Vypr. As our first product designer you’ll work in a multi-disciplinary product team leading design across our platform, app and marketing.

You’ll work with colleagues across Vypr to understand and solve valuable customer problems taking a user-centered approach. The work will be varied, you’ll be tackling new feature design, defining design standards and patterns, exploring changes to our brand and establishing the foundations of our design system.

Who you are

A clear communicator.
In your written work and in your conversations. You know that asking questions to clarify your understanding is important and you can speak confidently about your approach and decisions, pitching at the correct level of detail dependant on context and who you are working with.

Collaborative.
You move between individual focussed work and group collaboration easily. You have a good instinct for when to partner with other team members and canvassing for feedback and critique is a key part of how you work. Conversing with different disciplines is comfortable and you will be just as happy working with a member of the sales team as you would another designer. You know that building strong relationships with other colleagues is crucial to you understanding problems and being able to distil them down into design solutions that are useful and easily understood.

Flexible.
You flex your approach depending on where you are in the product development process. If you’re navigating ambiguity you know what to do to create clarity for yourself and your team members. If you’re working through something that’s already well defined you appreciate the clear goal and focus in on how to deliver to it.
You know how to break down complex problems using maps, flows, prototypes, wireframes, written documents or quick sketches to increase your understanding and make progress. Importantly, you know we have big growth ambitions and you can balance quality with speed of shipping, identifying when to make compromises and when to be steadfast.

A problem solver.
You enjoy picking apart a problem and finding evidence to help you solve it. Whether its data or user research you look for information to help you make good decisions. You know there are always 100+ different ways to solve a user need and you demonstrate good judgement zeroing in on solutions that do this well and align back to the product goals.

Your experience

  • You have worked in an agile product team as a UX designer, UI designer, interaction design, designer or product designer.
  • You are used to delivering value to users regularly through iterative releases.
  • You have designed for websites and apps and have a good grasp of the nuances between different platforms
  • You’re comfortable talking to users and are knowledgeable about user research best practice
  • You have good command of UX design, visual design and service design and can move in and out of detail comfortably

Vypr is a scaleup with heart. We work at pace, but not at the expense of people. If you want to work somewhere dynamic, but have been put off by the tech-bro start up cultures you’ve read about or experienced in the past, then Vypr is for you.
