VACANCY
- Support the development and maintenance of the safety management system as required to satisfy legal requirements (COMAH & REACH) and ISO standards.
- Drive the development of the basis of safety operating envelops for a variety of high hazard chemical processes and demonstrate the reliability of these to the Regulator.
- Management of improvement programs across Process safety topics including DSEAR, HAZID / HAZOP SIL / LOPA processes and complete / assist / track closure of recommendations.
- Commission and follow through to acceptance new or modified plant ensuring operational requirements are met. Provide suitable documentation to support this.
- Identify and implement plant modifications to improve safety, efficiency or reduce environmental impact. Conduct appropriate hazard assessment as part of authorisation procedures.
- Establish best practise and process optimisation to underpin the corporate process knowledge.
- Support the introduction of new processes on to the Eccles Site, developing and delivering training programs to ensure safe operation.
- Provide technical support in troubleshooting plant problems as identified by Plant Management and operations
- Active participation in HSE COMAH Intervention program, with primary focus on the strategic topics of Process Safety (developing and improving PSPI’s) and Aging Plant, demonstrating acceptable standards of performance and addressing actions arising from HSE inspections.
- Degree level or equivalent in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering with associated chartership
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with levels from shop floor to senior management
- Ability to handle a multitude of issues simultaneously in line with specified priorities and to perform under pressure
- Communication and presentational skills to enable instruction (verbal and written) to other employees in new operational techniques/new process introduction, process safety matters.
- Strong technical acumen and awareness of own capabilities to engage with external agencies, particularly the Regulators, on Process Safety matters.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Chemical Industry or relate, though consideration will be given to applicants with less experience who can demonstrate the ability and desire to develop quickly in this role.
