Position Overview & Specifications

Do you have an aptitude for data and IT? If so, and you are looking for a role in which you can develop your skills in a supportive environment, this new position with the HEAT team at the University could be ideal.

The University of Kent hosts the Higher Education Access Tracker Service (HEAT), which provides a member-based service supporting the targeting, monitoring and evaluation of activities delivered by more than 100 providers of higher education (HE) across the country.

We are looking for someone with technical skill (although full training will be given) to provide support in the delivery of accurate datasets and reporting to HEAT members.

The role will involve repetitive and intensive tasks on a daily basis, with a need to follow procedure and rigorously check your work. Your eye for detail and enthusiasm for efficient processes that produce accurate, high-quality data will be key.

The role is full-time and fixed term to the end of 2023 with the possibility of continuation thereafter. Applicants wishing to work part-time hours are welcome to apply.

Part of the HEAT team is based at the University's Canterbury campus, however, we are a nationwide service so full remote working is an option for this post; the main base will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

As Data Support Coordinator you can expect to get involved in:

  • managing regular updates of database fields on the HEAT system
  • checking datasets created by other members of the team to ensure they are accurate
  • acting as the first point of contact for members and the team for data related enquiries
  • providing general system troubleshooting and problem solving

What you will bring to the role:

  • excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Office packages, and experience of using spreadsheets and databases
  • an analytical approach to problem solving
  • the ability to work on repetitive tasks and to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • good interpersonal skills and an ability to maintain good working relationships

What we can offer you in return:

  • a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing
  • if campus-based, hybrid working options allowing a flexible blend of office and home working (to be agreed in line with business needs)
  • 43 days' leave per year (personal leave, bank holidays and additional days allocated for the Christmas period, pro rata for part-time staff)
  • an excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions
  • on-campus cinema/theatre, sports facilities, library, nursery and food outlets, set among green, open space overlooking the Cathedral
  • study while you work discounts, cycle to work scheme, local business discounts
  • on-site parking

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we would welcome your application.
