Position Overview & Specifications

Grade UE07: £35,333- £42,155 per annum pro rata

College of Science and Engineering / School of Chemistry

Fixed-term: 24 months / 01.04.23 – 31.03.25 / with possible extension for a further 3 years

Part-time: 21 hours per week / 0.6 FTE /

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to ensure the effective operational delivery of the EPSRC-funded Programme Grant “Boron: Beyond the Reagent”.

The Opportunity:

The multi-university £6M EPSRC Programme Grant “Boron: Beyond the Reagent” is led by Prof. Guy Lloyd-Jones at the University of Edinburgh, in collaboration with the Universities of Manchester and St. Andrews. It will advance the fundamental chemistry needed to unleash the potential of borylated molecules in drug development, agrochemicals, and smart materials. The post-holder will provide professional project management and administrative support to ensure that a wide range of non-research activities in support of the project are successfully and smoothly delivered. They will work closely with Prof. Lloyd-Jones, who directs research activities across the project, and interact with stakeholders across the project partners, including researchers, industry collaborators and Board members.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to plan and organise varied activities to short and long-term deadlines.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of budget forecasting and monitoring.
  • Pro-active and self-motivated to ensure effective operational delivery of the project, solve problems, and develop/improve processes as needed.
  • Strong teamworking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with technical language, and with textual and numerical data and reports.
