JOB DESCRIPTION
Fire Alarm Tester Inspector
Under frequent general supervision from the Service Manager, will be responsible for the proper and timely monthly and quarterly testing of all fire alarm systems.
This position is responsible for performing proper testing practices, quality standards, NFPA and Local Code requirements. The Inspection Technician is responsible for providing customer care which exceeds the customers’ expectations and meets the company values and mission statements.
Fire Alarm Tester Inspector ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Testing and inspection of fire alarm and life safety systems.
2. Accurately completes all paperwork directly related to the testing of these systems.
3. Understand NFPA and other Code requirements as they apply to testing all types of fire alarm / life safety systems.
4. Ability to test all alarm, notification and ancillary functions for the most complex systems tested.
5. Notifies the Service Manager of all changes, additions and deletions of devices from the original installation.
6. Has the ability to work off normal hours to accommodate our customers.
7. Accurately completes time cards.
8. Maintains company issued tools and equipment to the standards set forth by management.
9. Maintains company vehicle to the standards set forth by management.
10. Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
11. Ensure customer satisfaction by providing complete and accurate testing of all systems installed at the customer’s site.
12. Performs daily routine check-ins as required by management.
13. Communicates scheduling issues with the Service Manager and Coordinator.
14. Performs related services as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
FIRE ALARM TESTER INSPECTOR QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education - High School diploma or equivalent.
Previous Experience - A minimum of 3 year of hands on experience in the fire alarm industry.
Special Skills and/or Desirable Qualifications - Must be an effective communicator. Must be able to work with a variety of people of all skill levels to ensure the timely completion of the project. Must be capable of learning and using the appropriate electronic tools provided to competently test assigned projects. Individual must be capable of working during times of high work loads.
Language Skills – Strong written and verbal communication skills a must. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to effectively deal with all problems arising from testing. Effective negotiation and good analytical skills. Good time management, organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to plan each day while adapting to constant interruptions. Ability treat employees with respect at all times.
Math Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages and to interpret bar graphs.
Computer Skills - Working knowledge of basic computer functions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Must have a current Drivers License and a favorable DMV Report must be maintained at all times. Must have a current Alarm Company Employee registrations card issued through California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly/frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, push or pull objects, equipment or controls and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and work at heights up to 75 feet. The employee must be able to drive, sit, walk, stand, bend, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and balance. Specific vision and abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Regular attendance is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to moderate.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
