Overview

Unit 3 Compliance is a small and friendly laboratory and consultancy specialising in Electro-Magnetic

Compatibility (EMC), Radio, Electrical Safety, regulatory and environmental testing for the electronics industry.

In addition to our testing services, we provide engineering analysis, expert opinion, product design support, and troubleshooting/problem solving for when our customer’s equipment does not pass the tests.

As part of a small but growing company, you will be performing a variety of Electrical Safety, electronic and environmental testing in a laboratory environment. The nature of the job and the equipment involved means that the work is predominantly laboratory/office based. This role is varied and no two days are the same. It is predominantly electronics based but with compliance, standards and legislation, electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, thermal, software and product development opportunities.

You will be exposed to a wide range of technologies and products. Our customers operate in the consumer electronics, industrial control/monitoring, military, home automation, IoT, and medical sectors to name a few. As part of your application please tell us what your favourite pizza topping is.

The ability to take your technical skills and flexibly apply them to a wide range of equipment is important. The learning opportunity provided with exposure to a wide range of technologies and customers is excellent.

The testing you will be performing is described in numerous detailed technical standards. The ability to read, interpret and apply these documents is a key part of the role. This calls for a very good understanding of written, technical English and a curious, investigatory mindset.

This role is highly customer-facing. You will be working both in person and remotely with a cross section of people from engineers to entrepreneurs to compliance specialists to managers on a daily basis. This will involve having technical discussions face-to-face, over the phone, via video call, or via email. A personable, helpful nature and a high standard of verbal and written communication skills is required.

There is the opportunity to grow and develop into a respected expert in the field of compliance, supported by a business that prides itself on technical expertise.

What you’ll be doing

Performing detailed assessments and laboratory tests for Electrical Safety

Developing laboratory equipment, workflows, and procedures for testing

Perform thermal and vibration (environmental) and EMC testing as required
