Position Overview & Specifications

Due to expansion we are looking at taking on additional staff to support our current workload on various contracts in the North West, Staffordshire, Cheshire and the Midlands this would be on either as full time or Price, preferably price work to maximise your earning potential with no cap as a contractor

As a Fibre optic technician, you will perform your duties on new builds and existing networks. This will include both internal and external works.

As a technician you will carry out your duties in line with engineering specifications as defined by the client.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate and test on all fibre optic cables both internal and external on various splice enclosures underground, ariel, streetside cabinets and internal from 12 fibre through to 576 fibre spine enclosures
  • Provide constant communication with project manager to assist with completion of fibre works.
  • Use and document all work via depotnet, including safety, daily measurements, site open and close etc.
  • The usage of plant, materials, care of tools and equipment in a way to minimise unnecessary waste and damage.
  • Adherence to all Health and safety practises
  • Ensure to bring sufficient hardware & tools out to site each day.
  • Ensure all daily reporting, and documentation is updated and sent back to the project team daily.
  • Carry out quality audits and report problems and recommend solutions.
  • Understand the Safety & Environmental Policies ensure all activities carried out complies with the risk assessment and method statements.
  • Ensure adherence to safe working practices at all times.
  • Be prepared to work away from home when required.

  • Otdr Experience – EXFO, Viavi
  • Fibre splicing
  • 2 year working experience with Fibre optics products
  • Read and understand network diagrams and straight line diagrams
  • Understand written work instructions on MS word, Excel, and depotnet etc
  • Be able to understand Fibre network configurations for splicing diagrams

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Temporary contract, Temp to perm, Freelance

Salary: From £25,000.00 per year
