Position Overview & Specifications

Principal Programme Officer

Fixed Term Contract

Grade 5 - £38,296 - £46,549

The Principal Programme Officer will be part of a team responsible for delivering innovative and diverse projects, activities, and partnerships across the East Birmingham area, working closely with stakeholders and local communities. This will include both capital and revenue projects with outcomes including physical regeneration, employment and skills, and health and wellbeing. Applicants should have a strong track record of project delivery and good knowledge and experience of the delivery of regeneration in urban environments.

East Birmingham is a young, vibrant, and diverse part of Birmingham, with a total population of 250,000, making it larger than the average UK city. It also has some of the highest levels of deprivation in the country, which have been significantly exacerbated by COVID-19. The Council is determined to deliver long-term transformational change across East Birmingham. We will be bold and think big. This will include improving public services, renewing our local centres, tacking health inequalities, boosting skill levels, enhancing transport and infrastructure, building more affordable homes, creating more green jobs, challenging discrimination, and making the most of the tremendous diversity of our city.

We are now assembling a new team to implement an ambitious 20-year Programme to deliver our East Birmingham Inclusive Growth Strategy. We are looking for regeneration practitioners with comprehensive technical and professional experience as well as people who bring skills from other sectors. The team will be working across Council departments, building innovative partnerships with the community and local, regional and national stakeholders whilst bringing together diverse strands of activity including development, infrastructure, local wealth building and public sector reform to deliver transformational inclusive growth.

You must upload a Supporting Statement via the attachments part of your application. This is required for shortlisting; you need to describe how your experience and skills fit the essential criteria for the role as specified in the Person Specification.
