Job Details
A Higher Scientific Officer Support Scientist position is available within the Light Microscopy Facility, based at the ICR Sutton site. The objective of this post is to provide microscopy support within this cutting-edge facility, as well as image analysis support, to facility users. This will include performing regular quality control and maintenance of the microscopes; advising facility users on the best techniques and providing applications advice; giving detailed one to one training sessions to our researchers on how to use the advanced instrumentation for their studies; and designing detailed image analysis protocols.
Many teams are interested in spatial phenotyping to further understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with disease development, and the Akoya PhenoCycler equipment at the Sutton site is ideal for this purpose. Therefore, in addition to image analysis proficiency, a good understanding of immunohistochemistry techniques would be an advantage.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate must have BSc. in Cell Biology/Molecular Biology/Analytical Chemistry/Biochemistry/Physics/Bio informatics, preferably in a discipline related to optics / computing or related subject. They should be proficient in the use of IT and bioinformatics databases in addition to having good laboratory and analytical skills.
