General Operative

Title of Job: General Operator

Department: Shop-Floor Area

Reports To: Shop-Floor Manager

Main Purpose of Job:

To assist in the production of a variety of components using general engineering tools and equipment.

Key tasks:

• To comply with health and safety policy.
• Responsible for regular maintenance of machines and equipment
• Responsible for ensuring route cards are filled in correctly.
• Responsible for area housekeeping.
• To operate general production equipment and machinery.
• To carry out basic grinding, linishing, assembly work, Mig welding, spot welding, soldering and brazing.
• To carry out general assembly of components.
• General cleaning duties.

Hours of work

Day shift

7.00am- 5:15 pm Monday –Thursday

7.00am-12.00pm Friday

(will be expected to commit to overtime for Business need on Fridays)

Additional Duties

The individual has the responsibility and authority to ensure customer requirements are met.

The Quality Office is to be informed promptly of products and processes that do not conform to customer requirements.

It is the nature of the work of the company that tasks and responsibilities are in many circumstances unpredictable and varied. All employees are therefore expected to work in a flexible way, when the occasion arises, including occasional evening and weekend work.

These additional duties will normally be to cover changes in work and will normally be compatible with the regular type of work.
