Position Overview & Specifications

The starting salary for this role is £25,655 per annum as Band 5, working 37.5 hours per week.As a progressive post, upon completion you will move to Band 6 starting on £32,306 per annum.

Our Assessment and Treatment Teams (working age adult mental health) in Bognor Regis and Chichester are looking for two enthusiastic Newly Qualified Social Workers to join our Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). The ASYE course will start in January 2023 and will be provided by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This is a unique opportunity for the successful candidates to develop their social works skills in a secondary care mental health team setting.

To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID

This is a progressive post with the opportunity to move to Band 6 on successful completion of the ASYE programme.

For your first year in practice our established ASYE programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop your Social Work professional identity within Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust. The ASYE forum groups will offer you networking opportunities and regular meetings with the other Newly Qualified Social Workers and your professional development will be reviewed at regular intervals, enabling you to receive feedback about your practice as you progress through the year. The programme offer also includes protected development time, reduced caseload and an enhanced frequency of supervision – all of which support you to develop your knowledge, skills and confidence as you transition into practice.

We are looking for a newly qualified professional who shares the same values and ethos as we do. We want Social Workers who believe it is important to promote people’s independence and wellbeing through personalised care and support that focuses on their strengths, the outcomes they want to achieve and enables choice and control.

The NHS is changing and with more emphasis on community-based care means there’s never been a better time to join us. Over the next three years, community mental health services are going to be undergoing a real transformation and you could be part of these exciting developments. Our community mental health teams will become part of a much more integrated network of services and our mental health clinicians will be central in driving the changes, in close partnership with our primary and third sector colleagues.

An ASYE assessor will be identified prior to the start of your ASYE programme. You will be supported by your ASYE assessors and coordinators to gain an understanding of what you need to do to successfully complete your ASYE.

To be shortlisted to interview, your CV will clearly evidence:
  • You have successfully completed a Social Work degree (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with Adults and their families, e.g. voluntary work/transferable work experience skills, etc.
  • Registered with Social Work England
Our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation.
