Position Overview & Specifications
My client is a young lady who is looking for carers to support her to live independently at home. Hours are variable and days /hours are to be discussed with the client and her family. Duties to be discussed at interview.
You will be working with at a woman with learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs including epilepsy, rheumatoid arthritis and chronic GORD. supporting them within their own home on a 2:1 basis covering day shifts and when possible over night care for respite.
This role will see you supporting the woman in her personal care where she requires hoisting, transfer to the toilet and bath and assistance with all hygiene including encouraging her to go to the toilet.
You will support the woman in preparing and proving food for her including encouraging her to eat and drink.
You will support the woman to a day service where her social needs will be supported and fulfilled. You will also support her on a weekend with her own activities. You will be expected to explore options and use your initiative to think of meaningful activities that she will enjoy such as visiting dog sanctuaries, shopping centres or cafes and indoor activities such as scrap booking or baking.
All necessary training will be provided for the role along with supervision and support from the family and established carers. This is a direct payment role.
Requirements:
- Females only please. This post is GOQ eligible (personal care for a female)
- We are looking for someone that is caring, kind, compassionate, considerate with a fantastic sense of humour
- Experience caring for someone in their own home
- Non smoker with good mental & physical stamina
- Must have a full and valid UK driving license
- At least 1 years experience is required in health and social care
Preferences:
- Experience of working with a person with learning disabilities
- Experience of working 'waking nights'
- Non-smoker
Details:
- Up to 40 hours per week plus opportunity for overtime
- You will receive initial training and induction and regular supervision with the service users family and established cadets.
- Annual Leave 5.6 weeks per year pro rata
- Training can be provided
A DBS is required for this role and experience of care is essential.
