Position Overview & Specifications

SPEL products are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, motivational Production Supervisor to oversee, and support, a team of 15-20 Production Operatives in one of our main Assembly units.

The successful applicant will be responsible for health and safety and co-ordinate all of the activities, processes, staff and equipment used within the designated Production area.

On a daily basis you will provide the support, leadership and energy required to achieve Production targets fostering an environment of continuous improvement, good working practices and a cohesive team effort ‐

Brief Outline of duties

· Ensure health and safety is enforced and maintained within the building and outside areas

· Ensure work is carried out safely with all staff wearing appropriate PPE, using correct equipment, and adhering to safe working practices

· Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed and safety risks are dealt with before they become an issue.

· Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained

· Deliver the production plan, ensuring the assembly team work to the correct priority

· Ensure assembly staff have a clear understanding of daily work objectives and expected time lines.

· Ensure Workshop Infrastructure (Extraction, Heating Lighting etc) used correctly and efficiently.

· Ensure That fabricated or produced items are to correct specification

· Ensure quality standards are met

· Ensure the correct procedures/ systems are in place, carried out and improved if necessary

· Identify and escalate to Production Manager bottlenecks in assembly process and make solution suggestions

· Initially investigate all errors and address cause, putting preventative actions in place – escalate to Production Manager where required.

· Ensure team are arriving / working / taking breaks on time. Challenge noncompliance.

· Monitor team performance aiming to address any issues early

· Identify Training and development requirements for you and your team.

· Ensuring that the Company's Policies are communicated, understood and adhered to ‐ [e.g. disciplinary, grievance, quality, environmental, health and safety, equality, etc...]

· Maintain a tight working relationship, aligned to common goals, with the Production Managers and Operations team,

· Close Liaison with: Health & Safety, Drawing Office Quality Inspection, Materials Handlers, Maintenance teams along with the Production teams in other areas

· Assisting senior management with effective planning and continual improvement

· Be Fully aware of departmental measures (KPI’s) – what they are, what they measure, what the targets are and how the team / individuals are performing

Desirable for this role

· 1 year, or more, of supervisory experience in a Production environment

Physical Demands

  • Candidates must be capable of lifting, bending and working standing up for long periods of time

Hours of work

6.00am - 3.00pm Mon- Fri (8.5 hr shift)

Overtime Available

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £28,500.00 per year
