Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

The Global and Integrated Finance Division (‘DFIN’) department’s aim is to add value to the Group and its business lines' development, through a transformation of our organisation and operating modes. DFIN provides a key contribution to the Group value creation, through our activities of strategic advisory, steering, data production and certification. We are engaged in all dimensions of performance evaluation across the Group and provide a transversal and objective vision to support informed decision-making for the management and development of the Group and its business lines.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Participate actively to the Digital Transformation of UK Finance department as a Junior Digital Developer.

Contribute to the development of applications mainly in Python (backend) and Javascript (Frontend).

Work on the full life cycle of the application: from the client requirements to the delivery on our Kubernetes platform (native cloud application) in production and ensuring the support of the applications the team has developed.

Understand benefits an added value for the bank of the applications/features being developed

Strong sense of organisation with an eye for details are key to succeed in this role

He/She will report locally to the Head of London Digital Team for Finance.

Summary of responsibilities

DEV

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the multiple digital initiatives (Python, Javascript, CI/CD, Kubernetes)
  • Commit to the deadlines set with the manager and the clients
  • Produce high quality code with documentation and unit tests to facilitate maintenance and improve performance of the applications

TEAM

  • Apply best practices of the digital team: Git management, sprint and project follow-up, communication, UX design, containers, re-use existing solution in priority (do not re-invent the wheel…),
  • Team player by providing support to the finance teams when needed and supporting the development of other team members
  • Use the group resources whenever it is possible (expertise…)

INNOVATION

  • Propose initiatives or new technologies, libraries
  • Challenge the status quo by proposing new ways of doing things to the team

Profile required

Competencies

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to develop in Python or other coding languages is mandatory (Java, C++, C, Javascript…)
  • Practical knowledge through projects of Jupyter Notebook and a Machine Learning library a plus (Scikit-learn, tensor flow…)
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented programming and Functional programming
  • Knowledge in Design Pattern and Algorithms for coding
  • Knowledge in Front End development: HTML+CSS+JS, React, vue.js… a plus but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of code versioning tool (Git)
  • Knowledge of SQL and no SQL databases

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Curious and passionate about tech and software engineering
  • Good interpersonal skills to communicate with the team and understand end-users needs
  • Ability to analyze/handle complex issues (strong analytical sense) and propose effective solutions
  • Team player, enjoy sharing information, adaptable
  • Solution-focused, service-oriented and proactive
  • Have a reliable professional conduct
