Description and requirements

Trainee Information Controller – Apprenticeship 2023 – London

Join us on our journey to build for a better society by becoming a Skanska Information Controller.

What will you be doing?

As a Trainee Information Controller, you will join our Building team, where we will make it our ambition to prepare you for a successful and rewarding career in Construction.

Initially, you will be based in our Information (Document) Control team, however, you will be able to experience commercial, planning, construction site management, digital solutions, and data analytics placements throughout your apprenticeship.

You may choose to follow a career in one of these fields after the completion of your apprenticeship in Information Control.

You will work alongside experienced professionals, and together, you will be responsible for our building projects to be constructed correctly. You will do this by ensuring the correct documents are available to the right people at the right time. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn how to do the following tasks:

  • Undertaking digital document control activities, including establishing and following document control procedures. These include document release and publishing, query handling, management of transmittals and library management.
  • Data management, document numbering and data compliance checking
  • Using the application of metadata, and working with Electronic Data Management Systems (EDMS)
  • Organizing and keeping files, handling site documentation and updating registers on various project EDMS (Electronic Data Management System) such as View Point or Aconnex
  • Cooperating and communicating with colleagues and solving problems in the use of project Electronic Data Management System
  • Provide technical and documental support to others in the office to maintain an efficient project delivery

What qualification will you be studying for?

Initially, you will be studying towards a Level 3 qualification in Project Controls. Here is a link to the college course (apprenticeship standard):

Where will you be working?

London – you will be based in our 51 Moorgate office or in a nominated project office in central London.

What will we need from you?

  • You will need to hold at least 5 GCSEs at Grades 4-9 including Maths and English.
  • You should enjoy working with other people
  • Enthusiasm to learn and pro-activeness in your approach to work
  • Attention to detail and good organisation skills
  • New ideas to help us innovate and work better

  • Funding and support to help you achieve Level 4 and Level 6 qualification in Construction Management.
  • Starting salary: £16- £20K per year + London travel allowance and annual salary reviews
