Position Overview & Specifications
Fancy doing your bit? Join our Sewer Response Team covering Edinburgh, the Lothians, and the Borders.
What you’ll do
Your priority will be resolving customer issues. You’ll grab each issue with both hands, investigate problems and find solutions that make for happy customers.
You’ll carry out routine repairs and maintenance on the water network infrastructure, clear choke issues, and make sure plant equipment and vehicle safety is up to scratch – beyond scratch, even. All while putting health and safety first, second, third and fourth.
You’ll also keep any service disruption to a minimum, making sure customers know what’s what if there does need to be a temporary switch-off.
Accurate reports are essential, so you’ll be across reporting systems for measuring performance and productivity. And as part of the team, you’ll take your turn on the standby rota for out of hours work.
What you’ll bring
You’ll spend a fair amount of time working alone, so you’ll need to be self-motivated, but still eager to contribute to the team’s goals. IT skills are a must, as you’ll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day – you should be a quick-learner, ready to turn your cursor to new software.
Empathy and communication are important – you’ll listen to customers’ issues and make sure they know Scottish Water cares about making things right. Your written skills will be strong too, as you’ll be drafting regular reports.
A full, clean driving licence is non-negotiable – you’ll need to travel around various sites. On top of that, you’ll be certified in NRSWA, DOMS, and HCOP to operator level and experienced in water network maintenance.
A few ‘nice to haves’: it would be ideal if you hold CPCS for 180/360 excavators and have your HGV licence. And experience of cable avoidance tools would be good.
What you’ll get:
- 38 days of holiday per year (including public holidays) with the option to buy 5 more
- Eligibility to join the defined benefit, contributory pension scheme
- Annual company bonus
- Life assurance scheme
- Paid time off for community volunteering
- Access to "SW Splash", saving you money on holidays, bills and shopping
- Excellent family friendly policies around Adoption, Maternity, Parental Leave, and Flexible Working
The closing date for applications is the 1st of June 2023.
