Position Overview & Specifications

Job description

Safran Landing Systems is the world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems. At our Gloucester site we design, test, manufacture and assemble landing gear used on commercial aircraft including a range of Airbus and Boeing airlines, and UK military aircraft such as the Eurofighter Typhoon. For over 85 years, we have been at the forefront of landing gear technology, contributing to safer, more sustainable aviation for current and future generations.

What will I be doing?

  • Unload delivery vehicles with fork lift truck and move into stores
  • Receive parts from external suppliers, internal and external customers, verify the accuracy against the incoming paperwork and visually check for damage.
  • Update receipt of parts correctly in the company information systems. (SAP)
  • Allocate parts and update inventory levels by registering all transactions in the company information systems.
  • Prioritising requests, that may arrive at the same time from internal customers.
  • Physically picking parts from stock and issuing them to pre-allocated order numbers (Marshalling) issuing stock from stores to internal and external locations for spares and production
  • Stock checks on a daily/weekly basis within the stores areas, verifying electronic stock records, investigate discrepancies as necessary and update information systems.
  • Maintain stock accuracy at all times
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the stores.
  • Physically move parts between production areas as instructed/requested
  • Check previous operations are clear on SOL (Standard Operating Layout) prior to moving
  • Report any damage to parts to relevant team leaders
  • Ensure parts are adequately protected for transportation around the site
  • Maintain location accuracy at all times
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Complete mandatory start of shift fork truck equipment checks reporting issues to dept team leaders as required
  • Be trained and competent in use of industrial band saw in Raw Material stores

Job requirements

What do you need from me?


  • Computer literacy is essential especially (SAP/Excel.
  • Literacy & numeric aptitude is essential i.e. able to recognise part numbers, read packing specifications and calculate quantities.
  • Attention to detail.
• Quality conscious, working to procedures. Eg SAP procedures/Work Mover manual trained• Able to work without supervision.
  • Target achievement and results orientated.
  • Problem solving.
  • Proactive approach.
  • Teamwork.
  • Adaptability.
  • Communication skills (verbal and written).
  • 2 tonne Electric Counterbalance fork lift truck licence is essential
  • Electric power pallet truck licence advantageous
  • Reach truck trained advantageous
  • Sound understanding of Health and Safety i.e. Manual Handling.
  • Slinging & Rigging trained preferred
  • Previous experience of use of industrial band saw advantageous
  • Chemical Hazard Awareness & Spillage trained advantageous
