Position Overview & Specifications

Job description

SAFRAN UK Graduate Scheme
Safran is excited to launch its 2023 Graduate scheme in partnership with Roxel, and is looking for innovative problem solvers to join our Mechanical Engineering team. If this sounds like you, then we'd love to hear from you!
Do you want to kick-start your engineering career with an aerospace industry leader? Are you eager to put all that theory and hard work into practice, in an environment of stimulation & imagination, supported by highly skilled Engineering experts? If it is, then Safran Electrical & Power is looking to help you start that journey! We are looking for dynamic individuals who want to become the future of the aerospace industry and have a real passion and desire to learn, innovate and to ultimately deliver the future ‘More Electric' aircraft technologies, that will drive the industry forward in a more efficient, environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

Complementary description

Our Safran UK site, in Pitstone Buckinghamshire, is the Electrical and Power ‘Centre of Excellence' for all commercial and military aircraft, power generation and motor system applications. Twinned with our sites in France and the USA, we specialise in mechanical and electromechanical systems design, development and testing, encompass both oil and air cooled technologies. Additionally, our state-of-the-art Smart Products, ‘ENGINeUS' and ‘GENeUS', are leading the electric propulsion market of the future.

We recognise that aviation needs to innovate and change in order to protect our environment. We truly believe that future aircraft power systems will be hybrid-electric or full-electric, which is why we are working to develop and deliver advanced electrical solutions to help decarbonise flight. In addition to supporting the next generation of traditional aircraft, we are also working to support new VTol (Vertical Take-off and landing) products, light jets and urban mobility solutions that will revolutionise the way we fly.

Our Grad Scheme gives you the chance to be embedded within our Engineering department and to work hands on across different projects throughout your time, normally on a 4 to 6 month rotational basis. This typically includes placements in: Product Design, Systems, Through Life Support, Multi-Physics Analysis, Verification and Validation, and Test Engineering departments

Job requirements

We are huge advocates of early employee development, and are keen to help you grow and develop throughout your Grad Scheme. If the following applies to you, we'd love to hear from you:
  • You have a strong interest in the aerospace industry
  • Minimum 2:1 MEng, BEng, or MSc, ideally within Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials or Systems Engineering
  • You have an aptitude for hands-on activities, as well as being analytical and theoretical

  • Eager to learn in a highly dynamic environment
  • Desire to work within an engineering setting
  • You are inquisitive, innovative, and are willing to challenge the status quo and explore new ideas
In addition to your starting salary of £29,000 per annum, we'll fully support you in your choice of professional studies to complement your ambition. You will receive specialised training alongside other Safran UK graduates to give you the opportunity to network with peers based at different Safran sites across the country. As a valued member of our team, you'll also receive 25 days' holiday per year plus statutory public holidays, flexible hybrid working options, 4.5 day working week (half day Fridays) and access to the following Safran benefits:
