Volunteer Chaperone

Safe Soulmates is a volunteer-led organisation, all placements are VOLUNTARY, the definition of which is unpaid work. Please only apply for this role if you can commit to at least 1 year of volunteering. Please consider how often you will be able to commit to volunteering each month. About us

Safe Soulmates is fighting loneliness and social isolation by bringing adults with additional needs together to build trusted connections and find friendship and love in a safe way. We empower Soulmates to form relationships in our safe moderated environment.

About this voluntary role

Chaperones are the volunteers at the heart of Safe Soulmates. Chaperones help us facilitate our meet ups and if Soulmates find love then dates. We hold many events like, silent discos, party’s, mocktail making, games nights. We also take our Soulmates to many events like, football, boating, roller-skating, and the cinema.

Location: Huntingdon, Cambridge, Ely, Peterborough

Safe Soulmates – Background

Safe Soulmates is a friendship and dating organisation which brings together adults with additional needs to help them find and nurture friendships and, potentially, loving relationships in a safe way, free from 'mate crime', as well as online and 'real life' abuse. Sadly, such experiences are common for people with additional needs when searching for friendship and that special someone online and in real life. We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from all sections of society. We started with just 15 Soulmates, and grew to 60 within the first few weeks! A couple of years on, and we are now proud to have 170 Soulmates! We love our work, but sadly we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people with additional needs suffering from extreme and utterly desperate avoidable loneliness. Our work has quickly gone from supporting people to live fulfilling lives to saving lives. If you feel passionately about our cause, we would love to have you on board. We are looking to expand our team so that we can offer many more vulnerable people the opportunity to share in the fun, joy, and social experiences we provide. Our organisation leads with empathy and understanding; we see the results as daily tangible differences in our Soulmates' lives. We celebrate our differences and diversities because we are all united under the common belief that every person deserves to have friends.
