Position Overview & Specifications

The role involves providing therapeutic support to adolescents and children with Emotional behavioural difficulties and Learning disabilities. Helping to create a stable, secure and supportive environment to support children and young adults to achieve positive change in their lives. This is a unique role where you will be working together as a team using therapeutic practices such as: DDP and Dan Hughes approach of PACE and therapeutic parenting.

Our values revolve around therapeutic care and promoting positive outcomes for children and adolescents that have experienced significant trauma. You will be the senior as part of a qualified team working with vulnerable people that have needs surrounding: Mild learning disabilities, Emotional behavioural difficulties, Challenging behaviour, Family break downs, Sexual abuse or Mental health.

For the senior post you will be required to have direct experience working in a residential setting, however if you have an interest or personal experience dealing with the above or have studied psychology, counselling or health and social care then this will support your application for other roles within the organisation.

Job responsibilities of the Senior youth engagement worker will include:

  • Engaging with Children and adolescents from all walks of life on a daily basis out in the community and in the homes to support them to gain independence
  • Providing emotional support
  • Being emotionally resilient
  • Understanding and knowledge of safeguarding processes
  • Keeping record of support and writing care plans
  • Focusing on positive outcomes for the people you support
  • De-escalating challenging behaviour
  • Working in a team

Key requirements/skills:

  • Driver with a full UK driving licence preferred
  • Required for the senior role- 6 months experience working with children in a residential setting and an NVQ Level 3 in Health and social care (Or equivalent)
  • If you do not meet the above requirement your application will be considered for other posts
  • Excellent understanding of clear boundaries
  • Flexibility to work long days, alternate weekends, Sleep In’s required

Hours

  • A family is 24/7 and so are we. We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. As a Support Worker, in our Home you can you should be happy to work a shift rota system that includes working some weekends and bank holidays. This home is open 52 weeks per year.
