We are currently recruiting for a School Caretaker to join us on a full-time basis. The Caretaker has a critical operational role in the efficient functioning of the school.

Who we are:
We are a Jewish girls primary school known for our excellent school environment. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated to work hard and take real pride in keeping the school in excellent condition and running order.

The Caretaker Role:
The Caretaker has a critical operational role in the efficient functioning of the school. The role involves general maintenance, sweeping and light cleaning to keep the school and grounds looking smart. In addition, there are the normal caretaking duties that usually take place in a busy school.

About You:
Ideally you will be someone who can maintain routines reliably and be multi-skilled in maintenance and DIY, with a good level of fitness and a willingness to take on varied tasks. Experience of working as a caretaker within a school setting is advantageous , although this is not essential.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
+ It is important that you can respect the ethos and culture of our school.
+ Ability to do basic checks and operation of school equipment and systems,
+ Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting & Decorating basics.
+ Working as part of a team
+ Maintain site security
+ Key holder on alarm call-out list
+ Ability to undertake general maintenance & repairs
+ To undertake labouring aspects of duties e.g. porterage moving bins, sweeping playgrounds, gardening
+ Cleaning not covered by Contractors
+ Developing & maintaining effective working systems and procedures
+ Good interpersonal skills
+ Planning, organising, ability to meet deadlines
+ Clear, accurate verbal & written communication
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
+ IT skills – working knowledge of email and ability to search for & access web-based information
+ Able to complete online training courses.

Desirable:
+ Competent to liaise and negotiate with third-party contractors.
+ The skills to supervise and review work of third parties contracted by the school.

The successful candidate will have to undergo an enhanced DBS check to satisfy legal requirements regarding working on a site with children present.
