Position Overview & Specifications

Guided by the established team, you will be supporting children’s learning, play and development whilst working towards your level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship. Do you feel you could provide a fun, exciting and encouraging atmosphere for the children in your care, then this may be for you. We are looking for Apprentice Nursery Assistant to work towards Level 2 in childcare and to join our growing team.
You are required to work along side children in a private day nursery, carrying out daily routines and tasks whilst been mentored by the room leader. You will be given key children to help them thrive throughout their time at Hamond House.
You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week. You must be flexible on hours depending on weekly staffing rota.

Duties will include :
  • To assist the nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care
  • To complete a 6 month probation period
  • To ensure that all daily routines are adhered to
  • To assist with room planning and carry out planned activities, themes and projects
  • To have key children and observe, plan and provide next steps.
  • Liaising with parents and maintaining good communications
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to
  • To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy base room
  • To respect confidentiality within the setting
  • To communicate with parents and other visitors in a calm, friendly and efficient manner
  • To carry out ad hoc projects or duties as requested by your Room leader, Deputy Manager, Nursery Manager and Executive Manager

Training Provided

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Hamond House Day Nursery will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.
You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:
  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
  • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification
  • Functional skills in Maths and English if required
This will be delivered through Hamond House Day Nursery's dedicated training provider, Realise.
Realise is an established training provider that’s enjoying an exciting period of growth following a management buyout and rebrand in late 2020.
