Position Overview & Specifications
You will be part of a small team responsible for the maintenance and operation of electronic equipment. You will be responsible for the operation and repair (sometimes to component level) of electronic systems used for the tracking and measurement of radiated noise from underwater vehicles. You will also be required to adhere to local multi-skill arrangements including sea-going work and Trials activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely and with adequate resources.
- Support the repair, maintenance and operation of a range of electronic equipment and systems associated with noise analysis, including the Range Tracking System, GPS, Radar and marine radios.
- Report any defect or resource issue that affects equipment availability, in good time.
- Maintain personal record of competence against an agreed framework.
- Only conduct work within the constraints of personal competency unless under direct supervision.
- Diagnose and repair electronic equipment.
- Knowledge of electronic equipment/systems
- Awareness of health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Team player and excellent communication skills.
- Sea Survival Training (Training provided).
- Working in RIBs (Training provided)
- Eligible for full security clearance.
- Working with and maintaining bespoke electronic systems incorporating analogue and digital subsystems.
- Seagoing activities, surface vessels and submarines.
- Potential harsh working environment during winter.
- Helicopter travel occasionally to Applecross from Kyle of Lochalsh.
- Prepared to work in the marine environment and on-board RN platforms.
- Team Leader (BUTEC 1) in delivering a high quality service.
- Optimise range support equipment availability with well-planned, timely maintenance and repair routines.
- Team player and excellent communication skills.
- Flexibility to support short notice trials and long working hours.
- Drive and determination to resolve problems with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work equally well alone or as part of a team.
- Engage in local multi-skill working practices.
- Good communication skills with internal/external stakeholders.
- Able to take on responsibility and hold themselves and others accountable for their actions.
- Minimum of HNC or equivalent in electronics/electrical Engineering
