Position Overview & Specifications

This is an exciting opportunity for a Rights Assistant to join the busy and successful Rights team at Macmillan Children’s Books providing administrative support for the team.

The Rights Department is responsible for the sale of co-edition and subsidiary rights for the Macmillan Children’s Books, Two Hoots, Campbell and Kingfisher imprints around the world. Our lists include award-winning picture books, novelty titles, non-fiction and fiction books.

Key duties:

  • General admin support, production and contract fulfillment and invoicing for all co-edition and license sales
  • General departmental administration
  • Data imputing
  • Organization of book fair and sales trip schedules
  • Sending out follow up material after book fairs and sales trips
  • Liaising with the Production team and external customers regarding customer packing and shipping requirements
  • Liaising with the Accounts team regarding customer invoicing
  • Drafting of contracts for all co-edition and license deals
  • Attendance at international bookfairs, carrying out reception duties, should the opportunity arise, and assisting with the organization of any Bookfair author/illustrator events

Experience / skills required:

  • Knowledge / experience of Publishing, ideally Rights
  • Desire to work in a fast- paced international sales department
  • Highly computer literate, with particularly strong skills in MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written, verbal and numerical skills
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills within a busy environment (both physical and virtual), particularly managing and prioritising own workload
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Problem solving skills

We'd love it if you had:

  • Knowledge of a foreign language
  • Experience of working in a similar environment / office work experience
  • Knowledge of Biblio

Job Description

This is a full time, permanent role, based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.

Salary: £26,000
