Position Overview & Specifications

Holiday Camp Manager

£133 - £150 per day

9.5 hour shifts (8.00 – 18.00) during school holidays

If you love working with children, have leadership qualities and experience as well as plenty of enthusiasm, you could be leading our team of Activity Leaders at our Quinton House School, Upton Hall, Upton, Northampton NN5 4UX camp site! This is a rewarding role where you will be organising and overseeing the running of a whole range of activities and keeping children safe in a stimulating and caring environment.

Oxford Active has been running successful Camps in Oxfordshire and across the UK for over 15 years and we are recruiting for Holiday Camp Managers that have 2 years’ experience working with children and preferably 1 year’s management experience.

Your Key Duties

You will have the responsibility for overseeing, managing and running the whole holiday camp. This will include being in charge of a team of Activity Leaders. Working together as a team you will provide a programme of creative and fun play opportunities for children aged 3 – 14 years. Activities will include a whole range of things such as sports and games, arts and crafts, drama and dance, cooking, and supervising off-site trips.

You will also prepare and implement the daily staff rota, including lunch breaks, to ensure camp is staffed at all times with a safe ratio of adults to children.
Ensure that all staff are familiar with the daily routine and are familiar with all relevant camp policies, procedures and risk assessments.

We are a team so working with staff on building effective, informative and strong relationships with children’s parents/carers. Lead your team to build effective and positive working relationships with the host school and their staff as well. You may also be dealing directly with parents’/carers’ enquiries and requests as necessary.

When conducting observations of staff running their activities, keeping them motivated by providing constructive and positive feedback. You will also be responsible for conducting regular staff performance reviews and where necessary take disciplinary action.

About You

  • At least 2 years’ experience of working or volunteering with children in a play, educational or sports environment.
  • Confident and able to communicate well at all levels – with staff, parents and children.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team of Activity Leaders.
  • Enthusiastic and with a positive attitude to work.
  • Responsible, mature and able to use own initiative.
  • Well-organised, comfortable with paperwork and confident with IT.
  • Full Paediatric First Aid qualified (desirable).
  • All staff have to pass strict safeguarding checks including an enhanced DBS.

Understand and adhere to Ofsted requirements to be registered on the Early Years register, and the Compulsory & Voluntary Childcare registers.
Ensure that the correct records, risk assessments and other paperwork are in place to keep children safe.
Administer first aid as appropriate and ensure accident and incident forms are completed where necessary.
Act as a lead practitioner for safeguarding at the camp, understand Oxford Active’s safeguarding policy and ensure it is adhered to at all times
