Position Overview & Specifications

Key Details:

Location: Stocksfield (near Newcastle upon Tyne)

Hours of Work: Full Time

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000/year + Bonus, Pension and EMI Options

OpenWorks Engineering is a high-tech company based in the North East of England. We are supporting security and defence authorities with their mission to protect against the threats posed by drones – our SkyWall and SkyTrack technology is in use around the world. We require enthusiastic individuals capable of ensuring delivery of high-quality products for our international customers. We are looking for someone with a degree in Science, Maths, Engineering or Computer Science who enjoys writing software to solve real-world, technical problems.

The role involves a significant amount of time working with our physical products and so is primarily an on-site role. OpenWorks has a culture of flexible working (both in time and location) dependent on individual project requirements.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

- Helping solve technical problems to support R&D activities

- Creatively designing and implementing new software features

- Supporting our customers as they integrate our product APIs into their software

- Helping diagnose problems as they are encountered by our customers

Essential Attributes:

The right individual will be someone with:

- Degree in Engineering, Science, Maths or Computer Science

- Experience of writing software, either as a hobby or as part of their degree

- A high level of curiosity and creativity

The ideal candidate will:

- Be a good communicator.

- Be willing to travel overseas for short trips to support our customers.

- Be able to navigate around and debug existing software applications.

- Possess the creativity to identify opportunities to improve product features and performance.

Desirable Attributes:

- Knowledge of one or more of Python, C++, C#

- Linux experience

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
