HGV Class 2 Driver / Yard Person

Nottage Joinery Ltd is looking for a skilled HGV Class 2 Driver / Yard Person to join our team. To apply for this position you must be capable of handling the driving and maneuvering of a range of vehicles in our fleet. A Cat C license is required to apply for this role.

Nottage Joinery Ltd operates a busy timber merchant in Pyle, Bridgend. For this role, you will be expected to load and unload your delivery vehicle, navigate (with help of Sat Nav) and drive to various delivery locations, and off-load customers' orders. Deliveries are frequently multi-drop, so good time management to ensure deliveries are completed within timeframes is expected.

You will be the face of the company, so great customer service is a must.

When not out delivering, you will take on the role of a yard person. Ensuring the needs of the business are met including off-loading suppliers' deliveries, cleaning the yard, and serving/helping customers.

The right candidate must be willing to work in a physically demanding environment. Overtime may be available for the right candidate. Some infrequent overtime may be required during our busiest season on some delivery routes.

Responsibilities:

The advertised role is for a CLASS 2 HGV driver / Yard Person to drive a rigid HGV vehicle, and ensure the yard is serving, or ready to serve customers. The roles' additional duties include but may not be limited to • Washing down of vehicles • General maintenance duties • Ensuring the yard is kept tidy • Offloading suppliers' deliveries • Driving Forklift and Loading vehicles (training can be provided for the right candidate) • Collection of materials to and from supplier locations • completing relevant vehicle checks • Ensuring any material damages are reported to the merchant manager • Providing general assistance within the depot location as required.

Role Requirements: • Previous experience of multi-drop delivering is preferred • Class 2 HGV license is essential • Driver CPC with full 35 hours completed is essential • Valid tachograph & knowledge of WTD and tachograph requirements is essential

This is a full-time position, working from Monday to Friday, at 40 hours per week. Overtime may be requested during busy periods, including Saturdays. This will be compensated at a rate agreed upon during the hiring process.
