Position Overview & Specifications

Our pharmacy team is seeking an experienced Purchasing & Logistics Manager who will lead the strategic direction and operational development and delivery of robust, innovative and effective pharmacy procurement and distribution services across all three sites at North West Anglia Foundation Trust.

You will be a confident, experienced individual with excellent communication skills and full membership to the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) with professional certification or equivalent and relevant experience.

You will be responsible for the management and delivery of the procurement services, ensuring key milestones, aims and objectives are met, including the provision of finance/contract management, market and supplier communications and systems/tools/data related support. Maintenance of a timely key performance indicator dashboard demonstrating safe and effective service provision.

You will manage the team across both acute sites and provide expert information to your senior pharmacy, commissioning and finance colleagues.

You will lead on specific projects within the department portfolio, to improve service quality, safety and efficiency and support delivery of the department cost improvement programme (CIP). The post will also represent North West Anglia Foundation Trust at regional and national level on all aspects of purchasing & logistics and distribution strategies, ensuring key links are maintained with stakeholders.

Take professional responsibility for the development and delivery of pharmacy procurement and distribution services across the Trust and its partners.

Act as the Responsible Person named on the Trust’s wholesaler licence from the MHRA ensuring that the Trust complies with the principles and guidelines of good distribution practice.

Provide purchasing data to the Commercial Medicines Unit (CMU) regarding national contracts on a monthly basis and ensure effective implementation of all CMU contracts.

To perform selected enquiries on the pharmacy stock management system in the acquisition of management information both by initiative and under direction.

Network with pharmacy procurement specialists to ensure leading edge practice. Establish and develop effective liaison with regional and national procurement leads to support the continued development of the service.

Provide timely and accurate reports on medicine spend to analyse medicine use and forecast medicine budgets with external commissioners.

Be responsible for managing the pharmacy IT stock management and automated dispensing systems – to include the development, installation and support for new and existing systems, providing training and documentation and acting as a point of contact with suppliers.
