Position Overview & Specifications
This role would consist of 30 hours per week to be worked as a 8:00am - 8:00pm shifts on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday each week to provide a full and robust administrative support service to the clinicians on the unit in liaison with other members of the team. This role will include working on Bank Holidays and AL will be accrued to be taken during the year.
The ward receptionist is a key role within the paediatric administrative function for a number of reasons. This includes being the first point of contact for all visitors to our Paediatric Assessment Unit, maintaining all administrative functions and databases, assisting with queries from patients and visitors and escalating to clinical staffing as appropriate, and maintaining patient records as required.
This role sits within the Patient Services function of the Children’s Admin service, and uniform will be provided to the postholder and the successful candidate. The postholder will report directly to our Paediatric Team Leader for Patient Services, who will act as the first line for any and all queries.
The successful postholder must have good IT & communicational skills, and be able to deal with changing priorities and workloads, and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a wider team. Cross-cover may be required, and all administrative are trained to be able to work in all ward areas as required.
The patient service team is a newly redesigned service within the Babies, Children's, & Young People administrative function and is responsible for providing all customer service functions to the paediatrics wards, inclusive of ward reception duties, ward administration, and liaison with services including interpretation, accident & emergency, and medical specialities administration services.
We have a recent, purpose built A&E and an attached new Paediatric Assessment unit. We are currently refurbishing our children’s ward, which will have state of the art High Dependency Facilities and a purpose built adolescent/Child & Adolescent Mental Health area, which we are aiming to open in June 2023.
