Position Overview & Specifications

Hi, my name is James and I am the Community Team Manager for our community team within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Thurlow House.

We are creating the conditions to embrace change whilst always ensuring the basics. We work hard to ensure that from the very moment people access our services to the moment they leave, their care will be outstanding. A role which will challenge your thinking, expand your knowledge and connect with your heart.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join our team at Thurlow House, working alongside our existing multidisciplinary team. We are working hard to ensure the young people who need our service get the best possible care, and we need the diverse skills of an Assistant Psychologist to support these improvements.

We are looking for someone who has experience working with young people or have a passion to develop skills to adapt and be creative to meet the needs of our service users.

Working alongside Clinical leadership on service development to create best possible outcomes for our service users.

We would be interested in your personal statement to talk about your experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team or what you envisage the challenges and advantages are of this approach.

We are looking for people to join us with enthusiasm, optimism, fresh ideas and energy. As an Assistant Psychologist in the team you will have opportunities to be involved in service evaluation, research and training. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and will be liaising and working alongside partner services and external agencies (including schools and other mental health/ health provisions). You will receive weekly clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist within the service, and – under their guidance - will have the opportunity to be involved in direct pieces of clinical work including formulation and focused brief interventions as appropriate. The successful candidate will be motivated and organised, have good interpersonal skills, and have the creativity and enthusiasm to work with children experiencing mental health difficulties.

CAMHS can be a challenging environment to work in at times. As such, we are looking for people with a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and a good team player. You will need to be reflective and able to use supervision effectively. We can accommodate some flexible working in line with the service need. There will be a requirement to be able to travel independently.

It is important to us that all staff share our values and core beliefs, and those of the NHS Constitution. If you want to work in an environment of mutual respect, compassion, integrity and collaborative working, then we are the team for you.

We are an improving Trust, with ambitious aspirations and we are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work. We have established Assistant Psychologist networks, and strong clinical leadership to ensure your position in the team is supportive and rewarding.

If you are considering relocation to Norfolk a colleague recently commented“I had not realised how beautiful Norfolk was until I moved here. The people are warm and welcoming and I’ve found some amazing restaurants in Norwich. I have felt the benefits to my wellbeing living in such a beautiful part of the county. There will be so many things you don’t know or don’t always hear about Norfolk, Norwich is vibrant, diverse, quirky and original but only a stone’s throw from the sea, the rugged countryside and the beautiful beaches.”

Please refer to the job description attached for more information.
