Service Manager – 3 posts

The Posts:

The role of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is to protect the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards; enable high-quality clinical and public health knowledge, research and innovation; and change clinical and public health practice by using audits at a national and local level.

The Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is seeking to appoint 3 highly motivated and dynamic Service Managers to implement the strategic direction and policy of C&PH Directorate to ensure it is in line with PHS strategy. The roles will be required to lead on programmes and service areas which are current PHS priorities but post-holders will be expected to work flexibly across programme areas if business need changes.

The Candidate:

These roles require demonstrable leadership and management abilities to control the resources, budget and staffing required to deliver the objectives of the service/programme area. We are seeking candidates with strong communication and interpersonal skills who have the ability to manage change and can demonstrate evidence of managing multidisciplinary teams. The successful applicants will demonstrate a record of success in planning, operational delivery and partnership working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

There are currently 3 posts to be filled, should additional vacancies occur within 6 months, candidates who were not successful at this time, but appointable at interview, may be contacted within this time period to be offered a post.

Location and Working Pattern:

The post will be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. PHS operate a hybrid working model with a mixture of working at home and days in the office each week.

There will be an expectation to travel to local areas for some meetings and events.

This is a full time Monday to Friday permanent post at 37.5 hours per week.

This post will be included in the out of hours rota and will be recompensed under Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

Salary placement will start at the bottom point of the scale unless individuals have previous NHS experience.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
