Position Overview & Specifications

Secondment opportunity / fixed-term for 12 months due to funding

  • Secondment Opportunity – Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager and complete the secondment request form prior to interview. NHS Forth Valley is responsible for monitoring the health and provision of health care for a population of 284,000 in a mixed urban-rural region of Central Scotland.

Increasingly, the NHS relies on the use of IT systems to improve the care given to patients. The eHealth Programme Office is responsible for the implementation, project management, user training/coaching, and facilitating benefits realisation.

NHS Forth Valley are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team. We are seeking to appoint a full time, Project Manager (37.5 hours) with relevant experience in Healthcare IT projects.

Examples of current & forthcoming programmes and projects include a move to a full Electronic Patient Record, implementation of a new digital pathology system, and rollout of Microsoft 365 products. An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of eHealth Project Manager.

You will manage a number of projects relating to the use of eHealth/IT within NHS Forth Valley. You may also be asked to evaluate potential new projects including business case development. A key aspect of your role will be engaging with users (eg clinical staff), suppliers and other key stakeholders. You will also line manage a small number of project officers, as appropriate.

Communication and influencing skills are key personal qualities required. You will already have project management experience and be able to demonstrate excellent business/process analysis skills. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a related field of work and with relevant qualifications. You should have demonstrable experience in the use of IM&T. An NHS background with knowledge of clinical IM&T systems used in NHS would be desirable. You will be expected to work at locations across NHS Forth Valley.
