Position Overview & Specifications

The Senior Fraud Investigator will be managing investigations into allegations of economic crime against the NHS. The post holder will act as Officer in Charge of serious and complex fraud investigations being responsible for leading investigations within operational guidelines and appropriate legislation with authority for all tactical and strategic decisions.

The Counter Fraud Authority has offices in London, Coventry and Newcastle and there is the opportunity for office based, hybrid or home working based at any of these locations. In addition to the advertised salary working in the London area will attract High Cost Area Supplement where appropriate.

The Senior Fraud Investigator will be an expert in investigations and investigative practice, who works within the NHSCFA National Investigation Service (NIS), providing a comprehensive investigative function, managing investigations tasked to them via the Fraud Investigations Lead and/or the National Operations Manager, acting as an Officer in Charge (OIC) of an investigation where appropriate. They will undertake duties to obtain and present the evidence required to prove or disprove allegations of fraud falling within the remit of NHSCFA. They will undertake investigative work to apply appropriate sanctions, whether disciplinary, civil and/or criminal. All work to be carried out to a standard required by the appropriate Courts.

Acting as Officer in Charge of directing an investigation when tasked to do so, concerning allegations of fraud which fall under the investigative remit of NHSCFA National Investigation Service

To act as an appointed Disclosure Officer in respect of NHSCFA investigations, in accordance with CPIA.

To act as an Authorised Person in relation to the exercise of powers under Part 10 of the National Health Service Act 2006.

To direct, task and assign investigative activity to Fraud Investigation Officers and Investigation Support Officers as required

Analysis and determination of possible avenues and methods of investigation to obtain evidence
