Writer, The Morning

We are seeking a writer for The Morning, The Times’s flagship newsletter and one of its most-read pieces of daily journalism.

This job will have two main roles: helping to write and produce the daily newsletter and planning and executing features coverage that highlights Times culture and lifestyle journalism. Those dual responsibilities will require someone with a broad range of skills and familiarity with both current news and the world of culture. The ideal candidate has impeccable news judgment, to serve as the final eyes on a newsletter read by more than five million people each day, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and reprioritise them on deadline.

Main responsibilities:

  • Write short, authoritative pieces about news and trends in the arts, popular culture and more.
  • Have a deft editing touch, an understanding of brevity and clarity and the ability to convey voice and personality in a conversational medium, while still applying the Times’s rigorous editorial guidelines.

Ideal candidate:

  • Superior writing ability is a must.
  • Substantial proven journalism experience.
  • The candidate should have at least three years of journalism experience. A mastery of daily deadlines and a collaborative spirit are essential.
  • A deft editing touch, an understanding of brevity and clarity and the ability to convey voice and personality in a conversational medium, while still applying The Times’s rigorous editorial guidelines

The job is based in London on a Sunday-Thursday schedule.
