Position Overview & Specifications

This role is a outstanding opportunity to work with a small, dynamic team to care for a place of contradictions; a house with a long history, reinvented by a g enerous Edwardian connoisseur. If you have a proven track record of helping to ensure the preservation and presentation of collections, sharing your work with visitors and bringing the history of collections to life, then please read on and do apply if you feel ready for your next challenge.

The working pattern includes some weekend working and you’ll be part of the duty manager rota for daily operations on the property. As one of our key representatives, you’ll live in the centre of York, next to Treasurer’s House and be on a rota (rotas are planned in advance) to provide out of hours cover for the property. This 1 bedroomed accommodation is provided rent-free, and your council tax will be covered by the Trust.

Interviews will be held on 27th February and we can offer remote interviews to those who live outside of the area but would like to apply

If you have any questions about this role please contact: Alexa.Buffey@nationaltrust.org.uk

What it's like to work here:As part of York Collections and House team, which works across Treasurer's House, Beningbrough Hall and Goddards. Reporting to the Collections and House Manager, you'll lead three Collections Assistants.

No day is the same at busy Treasurer's House. Built in the 16th century and then purchased by a wealthy collector in the 19th century who created period settings. Today, the house is open to popular guided tours and is decorated for Christmas each year for our tourist offer in the historic city of York. There is a small formal garden and a below stairs cafe.

You'll collect and record information during housekeeping cleaning routines to inform our understanding of the house and the collection, and use preventive conservation techniques to improve how we conserve, interpret and present the property. You’ll enjoy telling visitors about our captivating history, storytelling as well as your personal experience of working here.
