Position Overview & Specifications

Job Title: Information Governance Officer

Location: Remote. There may be occasional travel involved.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Duration: Permanent

Salary: £28,000 - £33,000 per annum

Reporting To: Compliance Director

Key Relationships: SMT, Service Managers, MoreLife Central Management team.

The Role:

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who will help us continue to meet our levels of information governance and data protection compliance.

The Information Governance Officer will support the Information Governance (IG) / Data Protection agenda, ensuring that the organisation continues to comply with UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 and NHS Information Governance requirements.


Key responsibilities:

  • To implement the Information Governance Framework for the organisation taking into account legislation and other requirements as set out in the DSPT.
  • To provide advice on all Information Governance related incidents and risks undertaking the role of Incident Investigator for IG Incidents as required.
  • To support the development of policies in line with legislation ensuring the organisation remains compliant and up to date at all times.
  • To support the co-ordination of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit workplan for yearly submission.
  • To ensure Data Privacy Impact Assessments are carried out by providing advice and guidance to the relevant teams.
  • To support and advise colleagues on matters relating to data protection and information governance.
  • Understanding and experience of interpreting information management legislation, regulation and best practice e.g. Data Protection Regulations.
  • Responsibilities around responding to data subject requests in line with the requirements of the UK-GDPR.
  • To support staff in information handling activities to ensure that they comply with the relevant requirements of information governance and data protection.
  • To liaise with staff and manager to ensure an accurate and timely response to data subject queries in line with regulatory requirements
  • Plan and prioritise own work activities, to ensure operational efficiency
