Position Overview & Specifications

When we recruit technical sector experts for our leading UK Trade Association, we usually start by posing the question: why work for just one company when you can influence your entire sector for the better? The skills may be different in this new and additional senior role, but that underlying principle holds good for MIS and our digital journey, and hopefully gives you a reason to read on?

Our new Management Information Systems Manager, will be working directly and closely with our Chief Executive, to strategically review the needs of the company, employees, and customers in terms of information management, data processing, and applications for end users to help establish appropriate solutions that meet the business need. You will be establishing budgets for hardware and software as well as developing procedures, standards, and training for enterprise software and data management.

In so doing, you will have the chance to make a major contribution to an essential industry critical to the UK construction and manufacturing sector. Let us also reassure you that we are in for the long haul of our digital journey - this is no "quick fix" we are aiming at.

Some key areas of responsibility are:

- Directing the information and data integrity of the company and its business units, whilst ensuring the security of information systems, communication lines, and equipment.

- Directing a comprehensive software strategy through conception, design, delivery, continuous improvement, and end-of-life as appropriate.

- Identifying emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the Association, plus understanding/anticipating the needs and requirements of the business to ensure that software and services contribute to business outcomes.

- Evaluating overall operations of computing and information technology functions and recommend enhancements.

That's just for starters! As with all of our roles, you certainly won't be short of interesting and varied work!

What are we looking for in you in return? A few of the key criteria:

- A Degree level education in Computer Science, MIS, or related work experience, plus a strong understanding of Agile and other software development methodologies.

- A quality track record in IT leadership, experience and delivery when working with enterprise applications.

- The ability to learn new technologies, frameworks, and architectures.

- Outstanding ability in managing and monitoring business operations, together with the strong hands-on management, leadership, and communications skills to match that ability.

- Capability in fostering effective working relationships, building consensus, and in influencing a variety of users at every level of the organisation

A time to change for you and a time for you to influence an entire sector for the better? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
