Position Overview & Specifications

Are you looking for a new role, where you can make a difference?

We are looking for hard-working, empathetic guards to join our our friendly security services team here at Broomfield Hospital and help us continue providing all our staff, visitors and most importantly our patients a safe and welcoming environment to get better in.

This role is ideal for anyone who is enthusiastic about security but is also a people person, because you will have the opportunity to meet, talk and work with a variety of different people across the hospital site.

The Security / Parking Team provide a comprehensive car park and security service to the Hospital and Satellite sites in all weather and conditions.

In this front line service you will need to be polite, helpful, tactful but firm and have the ability to remain calm under pressure.

If successful, you will have a great deal of contact with staff, visitors and members of the public, directing drivers to car parking spaces, clearing entrances for fire calls, responding to all security issues and answering general enquiries from our patients and visitors; so a multi task approach is essential.

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.

We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, but vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

From facilities through to consultant specialists we want to be the best, to achieve this we need to recruit not just those who are the finest in their field but also those who have the potential to be. Yes, experience is important but so is outlook – if you are dynamic, forward-thinking and enthusiastic we want you to join us.

We not only offer you a good working environment with flexible working opportunities, but also the opportunity to develop your career with access to appropriate training for your job and the support to succeed and progress.

For full details about this rewarding and interesting role please see attached job description, but responsibilities include:
  • To greet, assist and direct patients, relatives and staff in a courteous, helpful and professional manner at all times.
  • To undertake audits under the direction of department Manager in order to prevent and deter crimes e.g. opportunist thefts of Trust/personal property.
  • To provide a service that will protect, advise, investigate and take action to create and maintain a safe, secure environment for patients, public and staff at all times.
  • To diffuse potential violent/aggressive situations using conflict resolution skills and customer care skills.
  • To be responsible for locking/unlocking and securing of buildings as specified.
We look forward to your application.
