Position Overview & Specifications

Job Title: Post Team Administrator

Salary: £24,206 to £24,443 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £24,206 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £24,443 will be via incremental progression.

Location: Sidcup

The role of a Post Team Administrator is to ensure that all Mail, both incoming and outgoing, is processed accurately and in a timely matter; a lot of our outgoing mail is time sensitive. The Post Room is a very busy department, currently dealing with over 80,000 items of mail per week; this figure is due to rise in the near future. A reasonable level of fitness is required, as there will be extended periods of standing whilst operating robust Post Room Machinery. Candidates will need basic computer and numeracy skills and be able to work accurately at a fast pace in order to meet Business need set timescales.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the processing and sorting of all incoming and outgoing mail in a timely and accurate manner on behalf of our unit. Scan documents to other departments and assist with other ad hoc duties.

Duties include:

  • Dealing with both Incoming and Outgoing Royal Mail deliveries, Special Deliveries, and Internal Despatch Mail
  • Process all Special/Recorded Mail deliveries (up to 1000 per day currently)
  • Operate heavy duty Post Room Machinery, to envelope and Frank all outgoing mail in a timely manner whilst complying with Royal Mail’s Business Mail requirements
  • List all payments and driving licences received in accordance with audit requirements
  • Scan Notices of Intended Prosecution and correspondence to the correct department
  • Maintain a safe working environment by keeping work areas clean and tidy, this includes shredding large amounts of confidential waste
  • Assisting colleagues from other departments with their Post Room needs and queries
  • Any other administrative task as directed
