Tunbridge Wells Hospital is a trauma centre, and part of South East London, Kent & Medway Major (SELKaM) Trauma Network. SELKaM has been rated the best performing trauma network in the country.

So, what makes us special?......

Maidstone Orthopaedic Unit (MOU) –MOU is an Elective Orthopaedic Unit within Maidstone Hospital that currently has 12 beds. We are a self-sufficient unit with our own theatre that operates Monday – Saturday. We care for patients who are undergoing a range of orthopaedic procedures, but specialise in primary joint replacement. We are a small and dedicated team that are very proud of the care and service we offer patients. Our aim is to ensure that we treat our patients with dignity and respect.

Ward 30 –Ward 30 is based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital and is a 30 bedded Elective & Trauma Orthopaedic ward specialising in joint replacement surgery. We also receive patients with fractures from the Emergency Department the Fracture Clinic. All our patients at Tunbridge Wells Hospital have single rooms with an en-suite bathroom.

Ward 31 –Ward 31 is also based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital and has 30 beds. Ward 31 is a trauma ward providing care to patients who have experienced trauma requiring emergency surgery, e.g. patients with a fractured neck of femur, complicated dislocations, and neck and spinal injuries.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.

We employ over 6,500 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please emailmtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
