Position Overview & Specifications

Magnum: Magnum represents some of the world’s most renowned photographers, maintaining its founding ideals and idiosyncratic mix of journalism, art and storytelling. Magnum photographers share a vision to chronicle world events, people, places and culture with a powerful narrative that defies convention, shatters the status quo, redefines history and transforms lives. Magnum photographers are a rarity and the agency is self-selecting, with a 4 year long process. The membership has evolved over the years to encompass the work of almost 100 diverse photographers.


We have offices in New York, London, and Paris, and work with press, publishers, advertising, television, galleries and museums across the world. We have a traveling roster of over 100 exhibitions, education initiatives focused on the next generation of visual storytellers, an ecommerce platform, and an editorial platform telling stories across art, culture, news and photography to our audience of over 5.5 million.


About the role:
We are looking for an Education Administrator to support Magnum’s in person and live digital education programs. This role will see you managing the end-to-end customer experience and related administration tasks across a range of world class education opportunities. You must be comfortable juggling multiple projects in various stages of development, have an interest in photography and aptitude for excellent customer service.


This role will report to the Education Director working closely with a cross-functional team across digital, partnerships, content and marketing.


What you’ll do
:


Administration

  • Own the administration of all in person and digital education programs to deliver a distinct, global, inclusive and scalable offering on time:
    • Manage the end-to-end customer experience from general enquiries and the application process to payment, billing, and refunds as well as submission of work during workshops / portfolio reviews, scheduling zoom meetings, and feedback surveys as needed
    • Arrange and manage photographer-teacher administrative needs such as scheduling, call set up, material preparation and ensuring deliverables are provided on time
    • Define and implement a strong communication cadence with all internal and external stakeholders and partners
    • Develop a system to track prospective and current students, ensuring a well monitored student pipeline for all digital education initiatives and grow Magnum’s engaged learning audience
    • Review feedback surveys and identify opportunities for improvement to regularly share with relevant internal stakeholders, iterating and improving as we go
  • Book frequent international travel for staff and photographers, ensure compliance with national Covid travel regulations, and manage and file expenses in a timely way
  • Providing customer service as needed, in collaboration with the rest of the Education Team
  • Pull out insights from customer interactions and regularly share with relevant team members to make better decisions
  • Ensure meeting best practices across the education team including clear agendas, note taking and sharing, defining next steps, responsible parties and deadlines
  • Develop excellent working relationships with Magnum photographers, understanding and navigating the nuance of photographers’ concerns and how those intersect with larger business goals

Accounting

  • Manage current internal billing and reporting processes for in person and online education products and services, overseen by the Education Director and Finance teams

Marketing and Communication

  • Assist in the delivery of an engaging social media offering, including research, writing and building of social posts, in partnership with the Education Manager and overseen by the Social Media Coordinator
  • Collaborate on, write, proofread and deliver welcome packs and other communications materials about in person and online education programming
  • Build out, update and manage web pages for in person and online education programs and relevant content marketing


Who you are
:

  • Excellent communicator, able to listen well and understand the needs of our partners, our students and the business. You express ideas clearly and directly after actively listening
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Extremely attentive to detail and able to think multiple steps ahead
  • Comfortable creating new procedures where they don’t yet exist and amending procedures that need change.
  • Naturally inquisitive, deliberate, and collaborative team player, which makes you open and eager to engage with feedback
  • Computer literate, and able to adapt and learn to new systems quickly
  • Having an interest in photography is a plus


Minimum qualifications
:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience working in a similar role.
  • Impeccable writing skills.
  • A successful track record working in a high volume environment.
  • Excellent EQ, able to build strong relationships, and manage multiple internal and external demands on your time across time zones
  • Good customer service
  • Excellent Word, Excel and Powerpoint skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Professional level of French is a bonus

  • London based with ability to work from home (currently up to a maximum of 3 days per week)
