Milestone Infrastructure is the UK’s leading highways maintenance provider. Looking after in excess of 24,000 miles of roads, 280,000 lighting assets and 20,000 miles of footways, always with a view to ensuring that all works are carried out as sustainably as possible and with minimal impact to local communities.

We are looking for an individual with an interest in highways lighting who is ready to learn and develop his / her skills while working. We are also looking for an individual who can communicate with confidence, work as part of a team, and demonstrate their potential to succeed as an Apprentice Street Lighting Electrician, a role that integrates academic learning and provides valuable experiences working in the field.

What will you be doing?

  • Installation and maintenance of High Mast lighting
  • Installation of general highway lighting
  • General highway electrical installation and maintenance

What training will you be given and what qualification will receive at the end?

  • Working from a local depot to you, you will spend most of your time out and about with our experienced and qualified teams, you will learn from experienced professionals and mentors to develop a comprehensive understanding of both High Mast and general highway lighting.
  • You will attend college on block release to gain you formal qualifications.

This is a Level 2 Apprenticeship and achieving the standard will result in achieving the following:

  • A mandatory knowledge Level 2 Certificate in Highway Electrical Work
  • A Level 2 NVQ Certificate or Diploma - in Highway Electrical Systems
  • To comply with industry standards, apprentices will complete their works in accordance with industry and employer Health, Safety & Environmental procedures including completing the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS)
  • Electrical version H&S test and requirements of the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) (see http://www.thehea.org.uk/) which results in the issuing of an ECS HERS Card being a licence to practice and work in the industry.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
As a Milestone Apprentice, you will be recruited on a permanent contract and after completing your apprenticeship you will be promoted into the business. You will also have further development opportunity through professional qualification or training courses.
