Data Base Administrator

Job Description:

We are looking for a DBA to join us on a permanent basis. We need talented individuals to apply their DBA skills for solving problems with data across a number of critical UK sectors.

We are on a mission to ensure that Leidos stands out in what is becoming an increasingly popular market place. It means creative solutions to problems using innovative design implementation and testing of systems and services with a focus on scalability and sustainability.

Specifically you will be part of a team of DBAs transforming, supporting and maintaining a system of critical national infrastructure to public cloud adhering to engineering best practices.

You will be expected to work closely with team members and the broader data team to transition legacy databases to AWS Cloud.

Highly technical in nature, in your role you will need demonstrable experience of working with enterprise platforms.

The legacy platform utilises a wide variety of data technologies so you must be flexible and quick to acquire new skills.

Essential

  • Relational Database Skills

    • Oracle

    • Postgres Aurora

    • Demonstrable experience of working with stored procedures, functions and triggers

    • Demonstrable experience of backup and restore of databases

    • Debugging data issues

  • Data migration, exposure to AWS tooling beneficial

  • Unix/Linux scripting

  • Working in an agile environment

  • Candidate must be a UK National

  • Must be able to obtain an SC security clearance

Desirable skills

  • Building and managing databases using DevOps processes, e.g. build through pipelines.
