Our Service

THRU (Talk, Help, Relate, Understand) provides peer support groups for 14 to 25 year olds experiencing mental health difficulties. We deliver workshops and courses in mainstream and alternative education settings across the city, as well as offering weekly group support for 6 months for 14 to 17 and 18 to 25 year olds. Everyone in the THRU team has personal experience of mental health difficulties.

The Role

The post holder will have personal experience of mental health difficulties, and will draw on this experience to play a key role in developing and delivering peer support group work for 14 to 25 year olds across Leeds. They will form partnerships with a range of education providers and other relevant organisations to provide tailored mental health support to a diverse range of young people. They will work with young people to coproduce the content and format of weekly workshops and support groups, as well as supervising and supporting volunteer co-facilitators.

Essential Skills and Experience

· Able to support young people aged 14 to 25 to safely share their mental health experiences in a group setting

· Able to share own experience of mental health difficulties to support others

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Able to identify development and partnership opportunities

· Facilitation of peer-led groups

· Working with young people in a group setting

· Outreach work with a range of communities and organisations

· Risk management and safeguarding

· Producing written reports

· Living our core values every day

Hours: Part time, 23.5 hours per week

Scale: NJC Scale 5 points 12 to 17

Salary: £24,496 - £26,845 per annum, pro rata

Contract: Fixed Term until 30/06/2023 (likely to be extended)
