Position Overview & Specifications
The Department of Economics at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) seeks to recruit a full-time Professor in Economics. This appointment aims to further strengthen the academic excellence and reputation of the Department and extend its research activities. The post is open to any sub discipline of Economics, with a preference for candidates whose research interests complement existing strengths in the department – labour, education, development and health economics, macroeconomics and monetary economics, industrial organisation and economic theory, political economy and international trade. The successful candidate for this Chair position will have the opportunity to build a research team through the appointment of a linked lectureship and PhD student, or through an equivalent research development package.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the Department, to maintain a high-quality research agenda that reaches out to external networks of collaborators as well as contributing to research activity within the Department. This will include participating in externally funded collaborative research projects as well as seeking funding for one’s own projects. Candidates should have already established an excellent track record, including recent publications in internationally recognised journals, PhD supervision, success in programme development and curriculum innovation, and experience of administrative duties. Applications from researchers whose work has impact on society, for example through influencing policy or practice, is very welcome.
