Position Overview & Specifications

Windows Systems Administrator

To deliver RBG Kew’s mission by maintaining and developing Microsoft Azure & 365 cloud services, Active Directory and related services, Windows server/client infrastructure and IT systems, which Kew depends upon to deliver IT services to internal and external users.

Focusing on system design, builds and installations. Responsible for assisting IT in the delivery, monitoring and managing the day-to-day production environments. Hardening, configuration and maintenance of systems and services. Updating documentation and diagrams.

Main Accountabilities of role:

Maintaining stable and secure Microsoft Azure & 365 cloud services and on-premises infrastructure by resolving hardware and software issues. Preparing and presenting change/improvement requests to Change Advisory Board.

Reporting issues where systems are non-functional, communicating with affected users and stakeholders ensuring that relevant parties have been made aware and clear requirements are generated.

Contribute to planning and implementing new solutions to improve productivity and stability, taking proof-of-concepts (POC) into business-as-usual (BAU).

Providing systems knowledge and assistance to the rest of the IT team through collaboration and maintaining comprehensive, up-to-date documentation regarding systems and services within the post holder’s areas of responsibility.

Liaising with 3rd party stakeholders and 3rd line Kew support team to discuss improvements, changes and service.

The salary will be £32,000 - £37,865 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
